What is massage?
Massage is a “hands on” treatment. It has both a
psychological and physiological effect. There are several
massage movements, which can be used in a combined
treatment, and have great affect on skin, muscles, blood
vessels, lymphatic system and nerves. Equine Massage is the
therapeutic application of professional sports massage
techniques applied to the horse.
There are three important factors for an athlete, be it horse
or human:
1. be as good as possible
2. be as safe as possible
3. to last as long as possible
In order to accomplish these goals, the body needs to be
treated as a whole. No horse should have to wait to be hurt
before getting help. The best protection for your horse is
prevention. Equine Massage is used on horses to detect and
resolve problems before they become serious. Massage
helps them live more comfortably and enables them to
perform to their full physical ability, therefore increasing
their competitive level. No drugs, no fancy equipment, just
human hands and knowing where and how to use them.
